Working mom-dom has meant delayed posts this week, but I can't let another day go by without saying how absolutely wonderful it was to introduce Harper to the first of a very, very special family to us: the Pietrowicz family, or, as I called them from the time I was three or so on, The Peaches.
Mandi, Dori, and Marni Peach, as I used to call them, were essentially my older sisters growing up. They were the perma-babysitters, the fashion icons (whose hand-me-downs I got to live in), the roll models. Their mom was my beloved godmother and mom's best friend. Of course, they've all grown up and grown out of their maiden name, but the Peaches just has a ring to it that can't be undone.
Last weekend, Harper got to meet her first installment of them - Mandi (Peach now Quinn) and her wonderful family. We also got to fit in some bonding with mom, Ted, and Vani. Caitlin had just finished a babysitting "course" and was ready to help me with all aspects of Harper care. Not surprisingly, Harper was completely enamored with her. Needless to say, when you hear one of your flower girls say to your daughter, "I'm your new best friend... and I will be forever," your heart explodes.
