We've had a long week here. Harper had pinkeye and was out of daycare on Monday and Tuesday. This meant lots of scrambling so that we could each work part of each day. On Tuesday, we actually sent her to daycare with a pledge that the doctor said she was no longer contagious, only to get a call 20 minutes later to come pick her up. "Kate, her eye is still very red." Mom fail.
Needless to say, this control freak does not handle these days well. Even with the absolute best support there is and a totally even 50/50 parenting split, it is insanely hard for me to put my nicely scheduled, prioritized, to-do listed workdays aside on zero notice. As we all know, flexibility is not my strong suit.
On Tuesday after I came home from work around 1, I took Harper out to give Darren some peace and quiet to work from home. I forced myself to stop stressing about work, put down my blackberry and accept an unexpected quiet, chilly Tuesday afternoon with this little lady at the empty zoo. It was a gift.
